l already left a note, I am just wondering what normally happens in this situation. It was not too bad, l did leave a scratch and it nicked some of the paint off though. What should l expect to happen when she calls me and how much do you think it will cost? l feel so dumb! :(

You need to get the note off of the car.

If they want the damages fixed, ask them to get an estimate and if its not too much, just pay it out of pocket instead of going through insurance.

Someone did that to me at my work parking lot. She came in and told me. It too was just a scratch, but up until then my car had none. l went to the auto body shop and it turned out it was over 500.00 to fix.

This could get ugly. A lot of people take pride in their automobiles. She could be highly pissed. It will cost you what it takes someone to fix it. You should feel dumb.

your insurance will go up for ~5 years, depending on the state you are in. here it would go up 350-400 a year for 5 years

next time take the extra second to look

You owe her to fix it. l would have her get maybe 2-3 estimates and offer to pay for the cheapest or report it to your insurance so they can deal with her. They will estimate it and settle it with her for you. However your rates might increase.

She is probably not going to be too happy with u in the beginning, but hopefully since she is a co-worker, things will flow smoothly. Ask her to get 1-2 estimates for you. If u can afford to, pay her out of pocket, to avoid an increase in ur insurance premiums. Make sure that if & when u pay her, u have her sign a release, so that she cannot successfully claim damages again in the future. If u cannot afford to pay this out of pocket, file a claim with ur insurance company.
