Hi, My dad recently got a car for me (l live in Texas, He lives in MI) and l got Ml insurance on it (it is 1/3 the price of Texas Insurance). Is it legal for him to own the Ml car (as a Ml resident) with Ml insurance and let me drive it in Texas?

My insurance agent f***ed me over by selling the insurance without telling me the legality of it. When l asked him about it, he said ''l do not know, I am not a Texas agent''. So l have a choice to make in very little time:
renew the almost expire Ml sticker, or
change the registration, plates, and Insurance to Texas (and pay 3 times as much...)

l am a full time student, but I've resided in texas for 8 years. l could tell them that l planned on moving to Ml when l turned 18, but decided to go to college here, and I am only here for college and that I will move to Ml when I am done with School. Would that suffice? because l saw a thing that said If you're a resident of another state and you're going to school full time here you do not have to change anything.
