l went to the local insurance place l noticed just days before my test... l went in for a quote, and he gave me a quote of $480 for a whole year of coverage, he mentioned if l wanted to get this offer, because every 1 & the 15 the quotes change!!! so next time l might come in it might be different... l went back one day before l went to take my written test exam at the DMV... and now the new quote was $540 a year!!! well l took it since l had my test next day... BUt l found this Very strange he ran two separate transactions one for $102 for the insurance policy and a separate one for his of $235.... is that his brokers fee? l feel like l was charged SOoooooo much!!!he did not give me any of the parers l sign only the one l need it for the DMV...

Ask the agent why there are two transactions. There should no extra fee for an SR-22. This agent sounds like a shyster.

It is true that the rating systems do get updated every 1st & 15th. However, the majority of the insurance companies do not make rate changes that often! l would say they make rate changes on an average 2-3 times a year. It seems like the agent used this ploy to make u get the policy quickier.

It is very likely the $235 was the broker fee for his service. In California ( l maybe mistaken) he cannot charge a broker fee over 80% of the actual insurance premium. How can an agent charge more for his service than the actual insurance premium??? You can go back & ask him to lower his broker fee. He will very likely say ''No. You paid for the premium, & it is too late''. You can then call ur state is Department of Insurance to file a complaint about this, & they will review the case. They work for the consumers, so u will get a fair case. If the agent acted in bad faith, u could win the case & possibly get ur money back (the broker fee). Insurance agents DESPISE the DOI, so emphasize to him that u will call them if he does not work something out.

Tip of advice, next time do not rush to getting the first insurance company. ALWAYS shop around for the best deals. You will be surprised at the rate differences between brokers.
