l have had my 12 year old Dodge Caravan (116K miles) back and forth 3 times to a Chrysler dealership over 5 days and have racked up a $1100+ bill and the car still stalls.Part of this cost includes diagnostic fees for finding the problem before fixing it.

As far as l am concerned, l paid for a service l did not receive.If it comes down to it, do l have a legal claim to a refund or portion of my expenses?

Call the manufacturer and ask if there is an extended warranty on your vehicle. Be sure to have your VIN as recalls and extended warranties are Vin specific. At that age, l doubt the manufacturer will cough up any good will benefits for you.

Highly unlikely. It is probably true the mechanic was playing process of elimination. A 96 Dodge has OBD but it is old tech & is limited. You would have to show that the parts he replaced were good & they probably were not even though it failed to fix the stall. l suggest u find a competent mechanic at a private shop. Most the dealer techs r fresh out of school & r clueless without a code reader. Try ask one of them what a carburetor is. You will probably get an answer that sounds like..urrrrr.uhhhh.. dunno. You absolutely do. Take them to small claims court. l guess to be safe, u need to let them try to fix the problem one more time, but l would not pay them another penney. Forget that warranty on repairs garbage, it is not fixed. So what would the warranty be covering? Nothing. l hope ur paperwork clearly states what the problem u r having corrected is, llike ''car stalls'' or something like that. They sometimes fill out the paperwork vaguely on purpose like ''tune up'' or something irrelevant like that. Small claims court, have all ur paperwork, be clear & brief. Do not gild the lilly when talking to the judge, be logical. It would help if u had another shop figure out the problem & repair it. Then you'd be able to prove they were on the wrong track. That really sucks. l am angry for you!
