l should have added earlier that the car has only been used for illegal activities since l sold it.Nothing l did led to the car being impounded.
It was impounded because the people l sold it too never registered it and supplied me with false details they then racked up speeding tickets on it.

l do not know for sure if you can considering you did something illegal to get it impounded l am assuming. It is possible a relative could. Your parents or siblings maybe. Then perhaps they could transfer it back to you later?

It depends on the reason why it was taken, If you satisfy the lien or tickets or whatever reason, then you can get it, with proof that it is yours.

It depends on your city and your state and why was it impounded? You should have put a release of liability with the DMV because the car was sold. It is then not yours to claim.

If your car was left on the street without a tag {up to date} then the police has the right to have it impounded. Now if it was on your property and it had no tag they still can have it towed But not with out some kind of notice.

l am assuming this means you let the people you sold the car to have the tags? BIG MISTAKE. The tags should have been removed by you as soon as you sold the car.
