Last night l got my first car.
My mom and l wo not be able to get it registered until wednesday, but l need to know if l can drive it to get to work without being fined or warned. (l realize I will probably get pulled over, but l have the insurance, title, and buyer is receipt.)

My mom called our registration place and they said there is a 30 day period where the car does not need license plates, but I am afraid that they figured we had just bought a new car and that we had paper plates for it.But obviously we don't.

l can not find the phone number to call them myself.l live in Iowa, as previously stated
We bought the car from a private seller, so there was no requirement for paper plates or temp plates.
(Please do not answer if you do not know Iowa laws, not all states have the same laws.)

you need a temp plate or need to transfer a plate from another vehicle

you will get ticketed and probably confiscated the 30 days is for transfer of registration so unless you traded in a registered car do not drive it and you should not even be able to drive it off of the lot unless the dealer gave you a temp tag

as you said you have 30 days till you need to register it so then l think it would be fine.
